Podcast shows the way to maximise green office plaudits

Press release

Published on 17.10.2011

Each year businesses up and down the country invest time, money and effort in creating a sustainable workplace, but for many the recognition and benefits associated with a green office project end with the opening ceremony.

In the latest podcast from Morgan Lovell, sustainability expert Graham Sprigg discusses how companies miss significant opportunities by not communicating their green achievements.

Graham, the managing director of IMS Consulting, helps businesses develop and deliver strategies, stakeholder engagement programmes and communication campaigns based on sustainability.

He says companies that have made the commitment to a green workplace should adopt a long-term strategy to let investors, clients and - most importantly staff and potential recruits - know more about their sustainability message.

Graham advises a mix of communication methods, including advertising and PR, as well as videos, case studies and podcasts to reach the right audience.

“We find businesses do a lot of work in making their buildings green, whether it is through new build or refurbishment projects, but what they don’t do is communicate that effectively to their stakeholders,” said Graham.

“Interestingly, the internal communications is almost always the weakest link.

“Once you’ve got a message you want to make sure it gets out there on a regular basis.

“There’s nothing different in terms of marketing sustainability from marketing any other sort of idea, commodity or service.”

This podcast is the latest in the Green Office series, produced by Morgan Lovell, where listeners can hear about the latest trends, technology and people in the world of green office design.
