‘Green’ Office On The Menu Over Breakfast

Wednesday 12th September 2007

Office transformation specialist Morgan Lovell has organised two free breakfast briefings for business people, designed to explore the key factors in creating a ‘green’ workspace.

‘Sustainable Office Interiors Made Simple’ takes place in October, in Birmingham and London.

Over several hours, the seminars give a succinct overview on issues including building sustainability into office design, cutting energy bills, meeting government targets, securing high ratings under the BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) and making projects carbon neutral.

People can register for their free place online at www.morganlovell.co.uk/events, or contact 01462 490609.

Paul Kelly, of Morgan Lovell, said: “We ran seminars on this theme in March and they were fully-booked within weeks.

“Climate change and the impending energy crisis are two challenges no business can escape or ignore.
“Sustainability is not just a matter for environmentalists anymore, and corporate social responsibility is not a fad – it is an urgent and essential part of the new age of ethical business.
“Most people want to play their part, but see it as another drain on resources, but the benefits of a sustainable office often outweight the costs.
“Ultimately, a sustainable office should save money, boost productivity and morale and much more - and these breakfast briefings look at how that can be achieved.”
Starting at 8.30am, the seminars run on Wednesday, October 10, at the Radisson SAS in Birmingham and The Royal Statistical Society in London on Thursday, October 18.

At both events, speakers include Morgan Lovell project designer Adrian Norman, who will show how basic principles such as choosing ‘green’ fixtures and fittings, and making use of more natural light and fresh air, can make a difference.

Riccardo Rizzi, Environmental Manager for Morgan Sindall, will give delegates an insight into making substantial yearly savings on energy bills, by building sustainability into the design process from the start.

Steve Jackson, FM Manager of Herman Miller, will then conclude the presentations with an overview of the cultural benefits associated with sustainable office design, before breakfast is served.

Delegates can choose to go on an optional site visit to see Morgan Lovell’s new sustainable offices – located in Soho, London and Fort Dunlop in Birmingham.
