Morgan Lovell ‘LEEDS’ the way
Tuesday 6th February 2007
Three of Morgan Lovell’s highly trained interior designers have received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design 'green building' rating system) accreditation. The official recognition, a first in the office interior design sector, confirms Morgan Lovell’s commitment to designing and building sustainable office environments.
The LEED building rating system, created by the US Green Building Council, is a nationally accepted benchmark for assessing the sustainability of building interiors, and Morgan Lovell is already working with several organisations to ensure their office refurbishments and installations follow this ‘green’ method.
David Henderson, managing director for Morgan Lovell, believes this latest achievement firmly positions the company as the leader in the interior design sector, as he explains: “At Morgan Lovell, we are serious about reducing our impact on the environment and our LEED accreditation is just one element in our approach to providing sustainable office design to our clients.”
Elaine Duke, one of the three LEED accredited designers, explains the benefits of working towards a sustainable office: “LEED involves assessing five areas of the office space on subjects ranging from energy savings to indoor environmental quality.
“Using a sustainable solution, companies can not only help to reduce their impact on the environment, but also make long-term financial savings and even improve staff morale.”
David concludes: “We aim to set the benchmark for sustainable office provision and our LEED designers can produce a solution that is both practical and inspiring, without making a major impact on budget or more importantly the environment.”
The closest UK equivalent to LEED is BREEAM – the British Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method. Morgan Lovell also has BREEAM accredited employees working with the company to advise on sustainable office solutions.
