Morgan Lovell taking great steps to lessen environmental impact

Thursday 5th October 2006

Following the launch of the British Council of Offices (BCO) Good Office Week, leading office transformation specialist Morgan Lovell announces its new initiative to improve its environmental performance.

Office Week looks at the needs and wants of office dwellers, as well as focussing each year on a series of themes, this year including sustainability and the effect of “the office” on the environment.  While many will be looking upon this event as a way of finding answers, Morgan Lovell has already made great progress in ensuring better management and understanding of its environmental responsibilities by obtaining the ISO14001 standard.

The ISO14001 is an internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems which specifies the process by which a company can continuously improve its environmental performance – from better compliance with legislation to reducing a company’s environmental footprint.  It applies to environmental aspects identified by the organisation as those which can be controlled and influenced.

Riccardo Rizzi, environmental manager at Morgan Lovell, said: “ISO14001 is a great way of offering assurance to our clients.  Peace of mind comes through knowing that as an accredited company we are able to effectively deal with issues such as environmental compliance and waste management in the most responsible way possible.

“The ISO14001 standard shows Morgan Lovell is willing to go that extra mile to show that it is serious about reducing its environmental footprint and is actively pursuing ways of doing so.  We have worked to install and maintain a better system that has vastly improved our overall performance to include environmental thought at every stage of every project.”

The ISO14001 standard is certified via BSI Management Systems, a world leader in developing management system standards, incorporating over 35,000 registered clients worldwide.

Paul Downing, managing director at Morgan Lovell’s Birmingham office, said: “At Morgan Lovell we are continually looking for new ways to improve our procedures and reduce our effect upon the environment.  Obtaining the ISO14001 standard is just the first step of many in our pursuit to offer our clients environmentally sound and sustainable office designs.

“In order to maintain the standard we will continually assess our procedures to ensure that they meet the standards that are set by ISO14001. Our clients will be given the best possible advice to make certain that their office refit will meet these standards and impact upon the environment as little as is possible. ”

Following their decision to establish, implement, and maintain an environmental management system Morgan Lovell became accredited with ISO14001, which ensures that it will continue to work according to strict environmental standards.
