Making light work

Genesis Investment Management's workplace was a mix of small cellular offices and open plan areas spread over three floors. The company wanted to improve communications between areas and make the entire space feel lighter. With this in mind, our job was to refurbish and update the existing boardroom, meeting rooms and offices.

The Morgan Lovell approach

We immediately improved visual communications between office areas by mounting glass doors, glass elevations and folding glass walls throughout. We made sure that any solid screening around equipment was low enough for colleagues to see and communicate with each other. Cellular offices were positioned around each floor's perimeter, so we introduced natural light to the central open plan space by installing soundproof double glazed doors and partitions. We also added virtual daylight fittings, which give flicker-free lighting with a natural feel.

An office transformed

Our transparent approach brought lots more natural light to all areas and significantly transformed the feel of the office. Genesis staff love the new sense of light, space and openness, and agree that the effectiveness of space and communications is drastically improved
