The Retford Enterprise Centre has been opened in the Nottinghamshire town and will provide office space to local enterprises.

According to the Retford Times, the centre has achieved a BREEAM rating of Excellent - good news for businesses looking to improve their sustainable credentials - and has incorporated an air source heating system, rainwater recycling and wind generation facilities.

Bassetlaw District Council Leader Mike Quigley told the publication: "We are equally convinced that to foster enterprise, we need to provide assistance. This is not achieved by doing things to our entrepreneurs, but by providing the platform for them to thrive in difficult trading circumstances."

The premises were opened by former chief executive of the council Martin Haverhand.

Meanwhile, metal cutting machines manufacturer Mori Seiko has opened a new office in nearby Rotherham.

The firm has set up office interior space at the AMP Technology Centre on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in the town.
