£270m Taunton office scheme receives approval

The new £270 million Somerset Firepool office development has been given the go ahead by Taunton Deane Borough Council.

It will feature up to 500,000 sq ft of offices when complete, although designers are now drawing up final plans for the creation of up to 113,000 sq ft of new office interior space for the Taunton area as part of the first phase of construction.

Spread over 16 acres, the development will also incorporate up to 400 new homes and aims to have a positive impact on the Taunton economy.

Pete Davies, development manager for St Modwen, said: "We are already progressing plans to build the first office building at the site and this announcement shows the council's commitment to the development as a major new build office."

Elsewhere, the Northwest Regional Development Agency, in collaboration with the European Regional Development Fund, is set to carry out office expansion works at Atlantic Park in Sefton to deliver up to 75,000 sq ft of new office space.
