Plans for the regeneration of Chesterfield Waterside moved a step closer to fruition yesterday (March 16th) after local planners gave the go-ahead for the creation of a new £300 million development.
In total, the project aims to deliver 300,000 sq ft of modern office design space at the site, which is situated close to Chesterfield city centre, according to the Yorkshire Post.
Furthermore, it includes plans for the delivery of up to 70,000 sq ft of new retail and commercial space, as well as a hotel, car parks and a number of restaurants and shops.
Peter Swallow, chairman of the Waterside Partnership, commented: "The Waterside scheme will play a key part in the area's modern awakening.
"Now we can turn the thriving and exciting new place which is the vision of the masterplan into a reality."
The Chesterfield Waterside project plans to have sustainability at the heart of its designs, with the scheme utilising sustainable urban drainage systems, water turbines and micro hydro generation, ground source heat pumps and onsite solar gain systems to reduce the emissions of its buildings.
