Three applications are to be submitted to local planners for office construction projects in Salford city centre.

Central Salford Urban Regeneration Company (URC) is hoping to create new office interior space at the Soapworks, Greengate and in the Chapel Street corporate area, the Business Desk reports.

The move is designed to help link existing office developments at Salford Quays and sites like Spinningfields in the city centre.

However, it could be undermined by existing applications for office construction work in the area.

"Spinningfields has been a major bonus as it has shifted the compass of the city westwards and towards Chapel Street," Chris Farrow, chief executive of Central Salford URC, told the Business Desk.

Elsewhere, developer Argent recently announced it has issued a tender for the design and build contract of the St Peter's Square project in Manchester.

The project aims to create 270,000 sq ft of office interior space and is set to cost £120 million, the Manchester Evening News reported.
