Property firms DTZ and King Sturge have been taken on to help boost the eco credentials of a refurbished office building in Birmingham, it has been reported.
The Birmingham Post reports that the two firms will be working on the Athena Point development by junction six of the M6 motorway.
Carl Durrant, industrial and logistic partner at King Sturge, told the resource that "sustainability is key for the industrial market of the future".
He went on to comment that second-hand properties are increasingly popular, with firms seeking office spaces that boast sustainable office design.
Among the energy-efficient features of the new office space will be eco-friendly lighting and solar panels, with water-saving measures also set to be put in place.
Those attending a design conference in Dubai were recently told of the importance of office design in the world of modern business.
Zawya reports that those at the OFIS Design Futures 2009 conference were told that despite the ongoing downturn, office design is still key to business.
