BIFM backs Ethical Workplaces Project

Office design news from Morgan Lovell

The Ethical Workplaces Project, a drive to come up with a template for the 'ethical office', is being supported by the British Institute of Facilities Management.

Launched by the Ethical Property Foundation, the initiative has brought together a collective of non-governmental organisations, academics and leading figures in the sustainability sector.

The different groups share the belief that world-changing things can happen when people are allowed to work in an environment that helps them, their community and the planet as a whole.

The contributors plan to come up with a best practice quality mark as well as producing material to help educate those interested in applying the thinking to their own workplace.

The Ethical Workplaces Project aims to create best practice guidance in terms of People (employment, user experience); Planet (energy, transport, water, waste); Community (Social, contribution, procurement) and Landlord/Tenant Relations (lease, service charge).
