BIFM co-launches efficiency scheme
Office design news from Morgan Lovell

The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has teamed up with FM Benchmarking to enable companies to make their buildings more energy efficient and reduce their costs in the process.
A web-based system has been devised to enable BIFM members to see where they can make changes in office design or office interiors, for example, to help do their bit for the environment.
The system works by comparing a building’s energy efficiency performance against other similar buildings in terms of utilities, maintenance, security, space planning and sustainability.
The process is certainly worthwhile as FM Benchmarking suggests building energy consumption can be reduced by 8% in a year, rising to 40% in ten years.
Ian Fielder, BIFM chief executive, said: "Measuring facilities" performance to make improvements is becoming increasingly important for facilities managers.
"We are excited to be able to offer our members discounted access to FM Benchmarking."
