Birmingham office interior uptake 'driven by smaller lettings'

Office interior uptake in Birmingham is likely to be driven by smaller lettings in 2010, it has been claimed.
According to Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), the market looks set to focus on lettings of less than 10,000 sq ft over the next year, as firms look to downsize their office interior space in order to make savings on overheads.
Ed Gamble, head of JLL's national investment team in Birmingham, said: "We remain convinced we are seeing signs of increasing optimism amongst investors, in particular, demand levels increased rapidly in quarter three."
Meanwhile, local newspaper the Birmingham Post recently reported that Colmore Plaza in Birmingham city centre has had its BREEAM rating upgraded from Very Good to Excellent.
Mark Harris, director at building owner the Carlyle Group, noted the improved accreditation adds value for current and prospective tenants, as well as complementing the city's aspiration to compete at a national and international level.
