Birmingham's office market is to undergo a drastic makeover as part of plans to regenerate the office industry in the city.
The Independent has reported that the city council has earmarked £6 billion for the development of services in the UK's second-biggest city, with plans for a new £193 million public library already ratified and a plethora of architects offering designs for new office buildings and residential property as part of the proposed overhaul.
Clive Dutton, Birmingham director of planning, told the newspaper: "Our Big City Plan isn't a planner's plan. It's a never-ending plan, spawning ideas and themes through public consultation, the like of which has never been seen before."
Meanwhile, further north, a new £50 million development has been earmarked for Liverpool's city centre.
Irish office development company West Bay Capital has outlined plans to create a 230,000 sq ft office building in Pall Mall, which once completed will be a potential home for government departments looking to relocate out of the capital.
