The creation of a 25-acre mixed-use development in Blackpool will go ahead despite fears over funding, it has been revealed.

Local council officials have said that the Talbot Gateway scheme will be completed on schedule and on budget - at a cost of £220 million.

"We are confident that the Talbot Gateway scheme will still go ahead and remains an important part of our plans for the redevelopment of Blackpool," commented executive director for places at Blackpool council Helen France.

In total, the project will see the creation of 90,000 sq ft of commercial real estate, alongside 330,000 sq ft of grade A office interiors.

The project has been undertaken as part of the regeneration of Blackpool city centre and will be a pedestrian-only area when completed.

Alongside the office space that is being constructed, the project will see the delivery of a new cinema, supermarket and two hotels.
