Boulevard plans for Derbyshire unveiled
18-04-2008
Plans to establish a Boulevard in the heart of Derby have been unveiled and brought closer to realisation after a series of property acquisitions.Local regeneration firm Derby Cityscape has bought up an area of real estate that will eventually become a boulevard worth £8 million surrounded by retail outlets and the latest office design.
Close to 2,500 residential apartments are also set to be built in collaboration with the local council, English Partnerships and the East Midlands Development Agency, the Derby Evening Telegraph reports.
"Through purchasing properties on this site we are unlocking potential for sustainability by enabling a boulevard and the first phase of the development to be put into place," said Graham Dobbs, a regional representative for regeneration group English Partnerships.
Derby City Council first initiated a process of consultation relating to large scale regeneration in the area in 2005 and the resulting "action plan" is now being implemented.
