Up to one-fifth of the office interior space presently managed by Bradford council could be sold in the coming months, it has been claimed.
The local authority claims it could raise up to £3.5 million through the sale of its office space, with consolidation in the way members of staff are distributed meaning that these moves could improve efficiency, cut costs and not result in a loss of services.
Furthermore, the council claims it could save up to £400,000 per annum in lower running costs.
Councillor Dave Green, the council's executive member for regeneration and economy, said: "The council has offices spread all over the district. Some are very small, almost satellite offices and some are clearly bigger offices where there are several hundred staff."
Elsewhere, the Southend Echo recently reported Southend Council has announced plans for the development of new office space at Progress Road Industrial Estate in a move that it feels will "kick-start regeneration" in the area.
