Bradford design award deadline approaches

The deadline for entries into an architectural design competition in Bradford is drawing closer and prospective winners have been urged to submit their efforts in time.

Bradford District's Design Awards are aimed at promoting the best in local architecture and office design and its organisers will not be taking any applications after April 30th, the Telegraph and Argus reports.

The award is backed by the Yorkshire branch of the Royal Institutes of British Architects (Riba) and previous winners have been noted for particular attention to advancements in office layout and design.

Awarded every two years since 2001, the design accolade is growing in significance in Yorkshire and now offers a big opportunity for local firms to show the country the kind of work they have been doing.

"Bradford is well known for its stunning historic buildings and it is important we encourage future buildings to be of the same high level of architectural design," said Alan Soper from Yorkshire Riba.

Operating around the UK via its various regional organisations, Riba claims to have upwards of 40,000 members and to be among the biggest proponents of sustainability within architectural design in the country.
