Sixteen of the most sustainable buildings in the UK have been honoured at this year's BREEAM Awards 2010.
The winners included two office buildings which recently achieved the body's highest rating of Outstanding - the 35,500 sq m G Park Blue Planet building and Stride Treglown's new headquarters in Cardiff.
"Going green doesn't have to cost the earth and can create city centre offices that are great places to work," commented Graham Ledward of the Environment Agency.
Other winners included the first shopping mall in continental Europe to achieve rating of Excellent, as well as a leisure centre in Bletchley and new law courts in Sailsbury.
"These buildings have comprehensively demonstrated their remarkable environmental credentials," noted BRE Global chief executive Carol Atkinson.
BRE Global is the organisation behind BREEAM and is an independent third-party approvals body for the sustainable construction industry. The BREEAM standard is the world's most widely used assessment method for sustainability.
