A new office and laboratory project has gotten underway in Bury.

Valued at £1.9 million, the development will see the creation of 19,500 sq ft of grade A office design space, as well as 92,000 sq ft of additional onsite accommodation.

Space at the site has already been secured on a pre-letting agreement with LGC Standards, with the project expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of this year.

Managing director of the construction firm responsible for the build Andrew Russell said: "This is part of a major programme of investment in Bury town centre and is a welcome sign that the commercial property market is starting to move again."

Elsewhere, a new office is being constructed in Gateshead on the set of the 1971 film Get Carter.

The creation of 45 new office interior units will form part of the Trinity Square regeneration scheme for the city.
