Business leaders call on PM for reduced rates for eco office design

A group of 14 business leaders have written to the prime minister with a list of measures to combat climate change.
Among the plans for change in seven areas put forward by the Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change (CLG) is for businesses to have reduced rates for energy efficient buildings and for firms that embrace office design that reduces carbon emissions.
The CLG claims that taking on such changes would enable UK businesses to "get 'first mover' advantage in new global markets for low-carbon technology", giving the UK a leading position in these new markets.
The letter also outlined a problem facing many businesses wishing to incorporate reductions in emissions into future plans and offices.
It said the CLG was seeking to "address the 'Catch 22' situation in which governments refrain from introducing new policies to reduce emissions because they fear business resistance, while companies find it difficult to take their investments in low carbon solutions to scale because of the lack of long-term climate policies".
