23-04-2008

Businesses have been given a range of tips to help introduce sustainability within their office design, it has been revealed.

Writing in South African publication IT Web, Kevin Wilson-Smith, total quality manager at Gestetner, states that by managing electrical equipment effectively and implementing sustainable practices, businesses can lower their energy usage by up to 70 per cent.

To help maintain sustainability, he recommended that businesses consider switching off photocopiers and printers when not in use and to keep energy-efficiency in mind when purchasing new office equipment.

In addition, firms were advised to place office equipment in areas which have good levels of natural ventilation and airflow to help reduce the need for air conditioning.

Such news could be of interest to companies looking to implement elements of green office design within the workplace.

Last week, it was revealed that work on the largest eco-friendly office layouts in Wales had begun at under Cardiff's Assembly Square.ADNFCR-8000187-ID-18564324-ADNFCR
