Businesses 'should embrace sustainable office design'

Office design news from Morgan Lovell

Sustainable office design should be high on the agenda for firms, it has been claimed.

Fresh Business Thinking reports that firms which embrace sustainability could see dramatic savings in terms of lower carbon emissions and reduced energy consumption.

Furthermore, recycling measures currently in place help to reduce carbon emissions in the UK by 18 million tonnes per annum - the equivalent of taking five million cars off the roads.

Simon Walsh, co-founder of ShP Limited - one of Europe's largest electronics recyclers - told the publication that 70 per cent of office waste is actually recyclable. However, at present, just eight per cent of this waste is being recycled effectively by firms.

Elsewhere, Ewan Tozer of Orangebox recently discussed simple methods of sustainable office design in the latest Green Office podcast from Morgan Lovell.

"Most environmental initiatives make good business sense as they reduce waste and can save money," Mr Tozer stated.
