Two new additions to the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) have been made this week.
Jonathan Davis has been appointed as director of knowledge and skills, which will involve developing skills in the built environment by encouraging new research.
Sarah Gaventa joins CABE as director of Space. CABE Space aims to promote excellence in planning, design and management.
Both departments will be working on public spaces, parks, streets and general buildings in England's towns and cities.
Richard Simmons, CABE chief executive, stated: "I am delighted that we have been able to attract people of Jonathan and Sarah's calibre. They will ensure that CABE continues to take a fresh and challenging approach to improving architecture and public space.
"Both care deeply about the quality of design in the built environment and the effect it has on how our towns and cities look and on peoples lives. They are great additions to our very talented team."
CABE recently announced that is was working on an exhibition that detailed the effect buildings have on the environment.
Sustainability and more energy efficient design is becoming highly significant in the office design industry.
