City office interiors 'to face constriction'

Office interior availability could be constricted in London in 2011, it has been claimed.

Head of UK research at DTZ Martin Davis has predicted that the coming 12 months will see a "very lean year" for the City of London in particular, as just 1.3 million sq ft of new office construction work is scheduled for completion in 2011 - half that witnessed in the previous year.

Overall, new and refurbished projects are thin on the ground this year. However, this situation could get even worse in 2012 and 2013, with no projects greater than 250,000 sq ft scheduled at present to be completed in the next three years.

Meanwhile, Simon Reynolds, a partner at GVA Grimley, recently stated that north-west office space will likely prove attractive to tenants in the coming 12 months.

"Both Liverpool and Manchester will have the only new office schemes committed or available, which will continue to attract new business," he argued.
