Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council has taken on office space at the newly opened MediaCity UK development in Salford Quays.
Paul Chappels of the building's owner Peel said: "We are delighted to announce the letting to Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council and are pleased to welcome them to the building."
The council will move into 41,721 sq ft at Quay West in summer 2011 in what is one of the largest deals for the development to date. Quay West is the landmark building of the site and one of the most iconic structures of the new development.
Elsewhere, broadcaster ITV also recently announced it plans to move to new office interior space at MediaCity UK in the coming months. The firm is moving to a new 7.7-acre studio that is being purpose-built for the company.
Adam Crozier, chief executive of ITV, said: "This continues our long and successful relationship with the region, which has played such a key part in ITV's heritage as a programme-maker."
