Council unveils New Forest Development

25-03-2008

Council unveils New Forest Development Plans have been unveiled that would see council workers in the New Forest relocate to a new and environmentally-friendly office building.

Sustainable office design has been a key part of the New Forest District Council's plans to establish a single operating centre in Appletree Court.

Currently, the council's staff are based both in Appletree Court and Lymington Town Hall, but with a focus on efficiency, it is hoped that these sites can be consolidated, reports the Southern Daily Echo.

Leaders of the organisation are unsure how local planning authorities will respond to their proposals but confidence is high that the project will get the go-ahead in light of its sustainability credentials.

"We have taken a great deal of care to consider environmental matters in the application, such as making the building environmentally-friendly and acceptable to the neighbourhood," explained New Forest councilor Colin Wise.

Meanwhile, the Abstract Securities company and the Evans Property Group recently revealed their plans to establish a new building boasting close to one million square feet of office space in Leeds.
