Businesses have welcomed the recent simplification of the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) guidelines in the government's Comprehensive Spending Review, it has been claimed.
Richard Hipkiss, marketing director at i-prophets, told attendees of the Esta debate on November 16th that investment in sustainable office design and other energy reduction initiatives can have a positive impact spending allowances to meet CRC criteria.
He commented: "[The CRC scheme is now] much more simplified, much easier to understand. It takes away the complicated guesswork […] that CRC presented to us as participants."
The debate took place at the City of Manchester Stadium and included speeches from the Northwest Regional Development Agency, the M&C Energy Group and Siemens.
Meanwhile, a recent report from Edinburgh World Heritage showed that the fitting of shutters to windows can go a long way towards helping properties hold in heat and reduce their carbon emissions as a result.
