Cumbrian office construction approved
13-05-2008
Permission for a temporary office fitout in Cumbria has been given approval, it has been revealed.Sellafield was given the green light by planners to construct a three-storey office building in Copeland.
However, councillors have stated that the development must be taken down after three years, as part of Sellafield's overall aims to transfer office workers to Whitehaven town centre, the North-west Evening Mail reports.
According to Phil Kett, head of site services at the firm, the office design is to incorporate 198 existing workers, 162 new workers and will also look to bring the firm efficiency improvements for its ponds and silos group division.
Councillor Geoff Garrity said: "We want them to move office worker posts to Whitehaven town centre."
In related office fitout news in Cumbria, it was announced earlier this year at the Mille Howe Hotel in Windermere it to benefit from new office interiors, in addition to expanded dining room and kitchen facilities.
