A council building which was seen to be falling down back in June has finally been arranged to be emptied in the first week in January, seeing the end of a lengthy office relocation.
The remaining 28 workers at Leicester City Council’s Marlborough House will be moved to York House. Most of the staff, along with council files and the furniture, were moved out earlier this month.
The local authority admitted six months ago that the building, which housed 125 workers altogether, was dangerous.
Structural engineers had to insist that concrete barriers were placed at the front of Marlborough House in case a vehicle happened to crash into it, which could have caused it to collapse.
Demolition was approved back in September but will not be carried out until the end of March.
A council spokesman said: "It has taken longer than anticipated to finalise the move to York House.
"A number of safety works were carried out in Marlborough House to ensure the safety of the remaining staff in the building."
