Investor demand is pushing up the value of distressed office interior space and commercial property as the UK looks to come out of recession, it has been claimed.
Dan Fasulo, managing director at Real Capital Analytics, said the majority of assets have not yet found their way back to market and as such, those properties that are available are at a premium.
He commented: "When the window does open for distressed property, it is going to open and close very quickly because of the amount of capital that is on the sidelines ready to come back into the market."
According to figures compiled by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, over 80 per cent of surveyed countries saw a rise in distressed sales in the commercial property market in the third quarter of the year compared to the previous three months.
The research noted South Africa, the US, Portugal and France saw the biggest increases in distressed sales.
