Edinburgh City Council has given its approval for the enlargement of the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
BD Online reported the facility is to benefit from an £85 million overhaul which will see the creation of new modern office design space, as well as a new atrium entrance, cafe area and rooftop terrace.
Initial plans for the building have received a provisional BREEAM rating of Very Good, although amendments by the property's owner BDP could see this increased to Excellent by the time of the centre's opening in 2013.
Elsewhere, Business 7 recently reported a new £2 million recruitment centre in West Lothian is to be opened by Sky, with the facility set to achieve an energy efficiency rating of Very Good also.
Jim Mather, minister for enterprise, energy and tourism, officially opened the facility and said: "The opening of Sky's Talent Hub is a welcome boost for West Lothian's economy in this challenging economic climate."
