Eco-friendly police station opens in Norfolk
14-05-2008
The sustainable office design of a new police station has been praised, it has been revealed.Based in Aylsham, Norfolk, the £755,000 building contains insulating moss on the roof and an electricity-generating wind turbine, in addition to other sustainable office design features.
Sheringham and Cromer are set to receive similar police stations which provide high levels of sustainability, while one posited next to North Norfolk district council's office layout is also proposed, the Norfolk Advertiser reports.
Chief constable Ian McPherson said: "The new building replaces old premises which were deteriorating and out-of-date and provides a dynamic working environment for operational policing as well as creating a minimal carbon footprint."
In addition, the open-plan office interior design aims to make communication between the main police force and the safer neighbourhood and traffic police teams easier.
Last month, Building Partnerships reported that it is set to construct an office layout in Norfolk which will include a number of sustainable features.
