More than four-fifths of global electronics firms have embraced sustainable office design in order to inspire their employees and improve their carbon footprint, a new study has shown.
Research compiled by iSuppli has revealed that 83 per cent of global electronic display manufacturers have employed sustainable practices when fitting out their workspaces.
It noted that green office practices such as recycling and using motion sensors to control lighting and power needs throughout an office interior are popular methods for improving sustainability.
Furthermore, the report noted that 73 per cent of these businesses are in the process of implementing carbon emission reduction policies.
Kimberly Allen, senior consultant to iSuppli, commented: "These companies will gain a competitive advantage over those focused solely on the bottom line."
In related news, the government has been urged to extend its green building practices beyond the residential sector and to implement initiatives to help non-residential, commercial property developers improve their environmental credentials.
