Energy sources are important

Office design news from Morgan Lovell

Firms must be aware of where their energy is coming from if they wish to improve their sustainable office design criteria over the coming years, it has been argued.

William Worthington, managing director of Eco Switch, said a third of all pollution in Britain comes from electricity production. Therefore, the single biggest thing businesses and individuals alike can do to boost their green credentials is to ensure their energy comes from a green source.

He commented: "We recycle and do lots of things that are environmental, but if we haven't sourced our electricity supplier, which has the biggest impact, we've only really scratched the surface."

According to the Committee on Climate Change (CCC), renewable energy will make a major contribution to the decarbonisation of the UK's economy as part of its Renewable Energy Review.

The CCC stated that a renewables share of around 30 per cent by 2030 would be an appropriate target.
