Sustainable design has been embraced in Wales through the development of a new central library in Cardiff.
The new building has achieved a BREEAM rating of Excellent and according to the local council, is set to become on of the most iconic sustainable buildings in the city.
Features of the building include a green roof - which contains a variety of plants - to help reduce the risk of flooding and decrease pollution, through to water saving devices and the use of insulation materials which have zero ozone-depleting potential.
Rob Boddy, chief librarian at Cardiff city council, commented: "Its unique sustainable features make it not only a functional building but one that will attract the attention of keen environmentalists."
Elsewhere in the Welsh capital, global accountancy firm Deloitte recently announced that it is to relocate its main office across the city from Fitzalan Court to 5 Callaghan Square, where it will take up 54,000 sq ft of grade A office interior space.
