Farmers build eco-office using straw
12-08-2008
Two brothers from Hewish, near Weston-Super-Mare, have constructed a green office design from disused cowsheds and straw bales, it has been revealed.Newbuilder.co.uk has reported that Grange Office Park will offer businesses an ethically sound modern office design which has been designed to be carbon neutral.
Insulation in the buildings is provided by large straw bales and overall it has reportedly cost the brothers £900,000 to complete the alterations.
"With a choice of office space available from 675 sq ft to 3,320 sq ft we believe the offices will be attractive to owners of businesses who want to operate in an ethical way," Simon Redding, one of the brothers responsible for the project, commented.
Meanwhile, Renia Spong, environmental consultancy manager with Waste Watch Environmental Consultancy, recently noted that businesses interested in improving their green credentials should look to improve their recycling habits as 70 per cent of all office waste is paper.
