Businesses across the UK are poised to embrace new sustainable office design practices following the annual Green Symposium; Capturing Efficiencies in the Commercial Office.
Delegates from firms around the world attended the event and discussed a number of issues including reductions in operating costs through more efficient use of space and how to optimise employee productivity and satisfaction.
Modern office design initiatives such as recycling and the use of green products were all considered, along with the prospects of green leasing of environmentally sound buildings. It also advocated the benefits to landlords of upgrading their structures to be more ecologically sound.
Meanwhile, Liz Peace, chief executive of the British Property Federation, recently urged the government to explore plans to boost sustainable office design in the UK through tax relief and incentives.
She argued that measures such as this could help the government in meeting its projected targets for reducing carbon emissions.
