The first development in England to have been awarded an Outstanding BREEAM rating has been completed in London.
Construction & Maintenance reported 7 More London Riverside - the new London headquarters of PricewaterhouseCoopers - has been completed.
The ten-storey office was designed by London-based architectural firm Foster Partners and it was the first project in England to achieve such a high rating for sustainability.
The property incorporated a high-performance insulated facade to help deliver considerable energy savings in terms of heating, as well as a combined cooling, heating and power system that has resulted in a 55 per cent reduction in carbon emissions for the building.
Elsewhere, the North Staffs YMCA was also recently awarded a BREEAM rating of Outstanding.
The £7 million, two-year refurbishment project has been underway for some time now, with a completion date set for some point in 2011. It will offer amenities for young people in the area and also office space for use by local businesses.
