Companies could benefit from improved sustainable office design if sufficient investment is made in renewable energy over the coming years, it has been stated.
Louise Jennings, a spokeswoman for Renewable UK, said the UK is blessed with some of the best resources for the delivery of renewable energy in the world and if this potential can be harnessed it could prove to be a significant boon for UK firms.
However, Ms Jennings commented: "Significantly ramping up investment is the only way to do this and that means a mixture of capital support from private investors, utility companies and government."
She added that technology costs must also be reduced if the UK is to meet its targets.
According to a recent report from the Public Accounts Committee, the Department for Energy and Climate Change is unlikely to meet its commitments for 15 per cent of energy to come from renewable sources by 2020 without significant investment over the coming years.
