The green light has been given for the construction of a mixed-use development at the site of the former Terry's chocolate factory in York.
GHT Developments has had its £165 million plans ratified by local planners, meaning the company can now begin the first stage of regeneration at the site, which, when completed, will offer new modern office design space, additional housing and other amenities.
Eamonn Keogh, planning director at Turley Associate's Leeds office, said: "We were appointed to look afresh at the site with a new project team that has worked exceptionally hard with the client to prepare a new scheme and secure this decision."
Elsewhere, the biggest ever plans for the construction of office space in Salford have been given the green light by local planners.
The project aims to build in excess of two million sq ft of new office space and will also incorporate a 390-room hotel, 24,000 sq ft of retail space and a new food, drink and entertainment complex.
