he Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) has launched a new initiative that could see free office space being offered to businesses in the region.
Crain's Manchester Business reported 15 sites have been chosen in Manchester, Liverpool, Bolton, Stockport, Warrington, Halton and Knutsford.
The move is aimed at promoting jobs in the region, as the NWDA noted 2008-9 saw the north-west attract 21 major new investment projects, an increase of 64 in comparison to 2007-8.
Mark Hughes, executive director of economic development at the NWDA, said: "The north-west is well known for its friendly hospitality and welcoming population and we are also one of the best performing regions for foreign direct investment."
Elsewhere, the publication recently noted the largest ever plans for the construction of office space in Salford have been given the green light by local planners.
Two million sq ft of new, modern office design space is to be constructed, as well as a 390-room hotel, 24,000 sq ft of retail space and a new food, drink and entertainment complex.
