A new investment fund has been set up by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) to help promote the creation of office space in the north-west of England.
The Northwest Urban Investment Fund (NUIF) is to be given £50 million by the ERDF, which the NWDA will match, Construction News reports.
Chairman of the NWDA Robert Hough noted the fund will help support investment in the region and both public and private organisations have been invited to tender for aid in creating modern office design space throughout the north-west.
At present, the scheme is likely to help kick-start developments in Manchester and Liverpool in particular.
Elsewhere, a Thames Valley agent for Cushman & Wakefield recently commented that the uptake of office space in the south-west could improve next year.
The representative noted demand for offices is likely to increase as the region begins to come to terms with the impact of the economic downturn and a recovery gets underway.
