The annual meeting of G20 world leaders has given a boost to the efforts for sustainable design in the UK, it has been claimed.
Design Week has reported that trade minister Mervyn Davies believes the recent G20 summit provided the perfect opportunity for world leaders to promote the idea of sustainable design as a way of reducing carbon output.
"This year's G20 meeting will provide an opportunity for the world to come together on sustainable design in the UK," he commented.
He noted that sustainable design will become increasingly important in the UK over the next 20 to 30 years and this year's meeting has helped to pave the way for these ecological improvements to take place.
Meanwhile, the Welsh Assembly has unveiled plans to promote sustainable design for offices across the country.
The assembly is working in partnership with Eco Design in Demand to provide guidelines for sustainable office design to firms across Wales over the next 12 months.
