Belfast-based construction firm PBN Property has announced plans to redevelop Glasgow's Savoy Centre.
The development has been forecast to cost £80 million and will entail the building of 6,000 sq ft of prime office space at the centre, along with a 221-bedroom hotel and the development of several thousand sq ft of new retail space.
It is believed that this refurbishment will create up to 900 new jobs in the city once completed and is being undertaken on the site of what is now the Sauchiehall Street centre on the corner of Renfrew Street and Hope Street.
Scott Taylor, chief executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: "If Glasgow intends to compete and win on a world stage, it needs to continue to attract major investments such as this."
Elsewhere in Scotland, the Press and Journal recently reported that north-east company Power Jacks is planning the £5 million relocation of its head offices to Ellon in Aberdeenshire.
