Government agencies to relocate to Manchester offices
28-08-2008
It was today (August 28th) confirmed that two government agencies are to move to new offices in Manchester - the Highways Agency and the Training and Development Agency for Schools.Crain's Manchester Business reports that the agencies are to be housed at the new Piccadilly Gate centre - formerly known as Rail House - and will be moving in in early 2010.
Liz Meek, regional director of government office for the north-west, told the newspaper: "This is also about the relocation of a major government agency to the north-west, bringing not just jobs but all the associated benefits to the local economy."
Meanwhile, it was also recently reported in the publication that demand for office space in the city is currently waning.
This has led to the postponement of a number of office developments in the area, including a 100,000 sq ft office interior for the legal firm DWF.
