Green building firm in line for award

Earth and Reed, a sustainable office design and supplies firm, is in line to receive an award for its commitment to green building practices.
The firm is one of 25 businesses currently in the running to be named a finalist at this year's 2008 Barclays Commercial Bank Green Leaders in Business Awards.
On the night, 12 companies will be presented before the judges which will include leading environmentalist Tom Burke, members of the Carbon Trust, Bloomberg and the World Wildlife Federation.
Richard French, marketing director at Barclays Commercial Bank, said: "We hope the success of Earth and Reed will inspire other small companies to find innovative ways of doing business that will build a new economy which is both realistic and sustainable."
In related news, a seminar on sustainable office design recently took place in Nottingham.
Hosted by the East Midlands Development Agency and William Davis, the event attracted over 100 individuals.
