An environmentally-friendly business park is to be opened in Hyndburn, east Lancashire in the near future, it has been revealed.
The Blackburn Citizen has reported that the environmental charity Prospects is to transform an 11-acre site - Church Road Meadow - on the edge of Oswaldtwistle and Church into a development, with half of the area remaining as open space.
Ecological features of the park will include four eco houses, a bio-mass heating plant, a timber yard and four 45ft-high wind turbines.
Phil Barwood, the chairman of Prospects, told the paper: "Its a very open kind of design, partly to improve the appearance, partly for planning reasons and also to improve the drainage on site."
And in related news, a Welsh company was recently awarded a sustainability award for its use of recycled materials in its office design.
Sustainable construction news website New Builder reported that White Design was commemorated for using up to 85 per cent recycled material in a number of its developments.
