The new iCon innovation centre being built in Daventry could help the region to become a centre for sustainability, it has been claimed.

News provider Green Wise Business reports that the new centre is designed to become a base from which to advance green technologies.

Tim Bagshaw, head of investment at Northamptonshire Enterprise Limited (NEL), told the news provider: "There are significant plans and ambitions for Northamptonshire over the coming years."

The building is designed to function as a multi-use centre, promoting innovation in the field of sustainability and providing new light industrial and office space.

Funding for the iCon project has come through the East Midlands Development Agency, West Northamptonshire Development Corporation and the European Regional Development Fund, alongside NEL.

NEL works to offer support for economic development, inward investment and tourism growth in the Northamptonshire region. It works with partners from the public and private spheres, as well as those from the voluntary sector.ADNFCR-8000187-ID-800137573-ADNFCR
