West Dorset District Council has announced plans to relocate its staff to new premises in the area as part of an initiative to reduce its carbon output by 30 per cent.
As a result, the council is now on the lookout for premises that offer sustainable office design as standard and will enable the organisation to fulfil its goals of significant environmental improvements by 2020.
Council leader Robert Gould said: "The council takes its role in the climate change strategy very seriously and we are striving to be as environmentally friendly as possible in the way we operate."
Meanwhile, Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council recently signed an agreement to move to new premises at the newly opened MediaCity UK development in Salford Quays.
The council will move into 41,721 sq ft of office space at Quay West in summer 2011, in what is one of the largest deals for the development to date.
